At least we can laugh.
In instances where people have lost loved ones due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is also tragic, of course.
There are different views on this, like with everything in life, but some argue it is even necessary to allow nature and the planet to have a break.
What it is not, is funny. That does not mean, however, that we can’t find little moments in between that we can laugh. In fact, it is one of our coping mechanisms. Now, more than ever. To recognise the humour where we can and enjoy the moment when we do.
Since lockdown was declared, there were a couple of moments that made us laugh, which made our day. The star of one those moments, was our president, Cyril Ramaphosa. When he struggled to put on his mask recently it made us chuckle. This triggered an avalanche of memes.
President Ramapahosa also scored major points with us when he joked about it during a press conference in the days after, saying he will have to start a television channel teaching people to put on masks.
The other star of one of our top lockdown laughter moments was minister in the Presidency, Jackson Mthembu, who had a slip-of-the-tongue and said “vibrator” instead of ventilator during a speech.

Enjoy, and please see this in the spirit it is intended – from a place of endearment, respect, and admiration and a need to laugh and not as a criticism or out of a need to start a political debate.
